HERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE DECIDING TO BREED!
 |
- Is your dog fit and in good health?
- Has your dog got a steady character? Is she scared easily? Is she agressive towards people. If so, than you shouldn't breed her.
- How old is she? (the recommended age for breeding is after 18 months or 3rd season)
- Has she any problems that might be hereditary, have you had her checked with a vet?
- Do you realise all the risks involved?
- The cost implication of a caesarian might put you off! I don't think insurance covers this! also any vet bills encountered could be expensive.
- Has she been tested for PHPV (Persitent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous) /HC (Hereditary Cataracts) / PPSC (Posterior Polar Subcapsular Cataract) /L-2-HGA (Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria) this is a must to improve the breed click here for more information.
- You could lose your dog and all/some of the puppies.
- Hand rearing is time intensive would you be able to cope. Puppies mnake a lot of mess.
- Extra food costs.
- Stud fees.
- Have you enough good homes for the puppies to go to. Vet them all carefully!
- Are you prepared to re-home if it's necessary?.
